Job Description

About the Role

Horsham Rural City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Community Safety to lead our Community Safety Unit and help shape a safe, welcoming and liveable municipality. This is a rewarding leadership role that combines people management, operational coordination and frontline regulatory services.

You will be responsible for supervising staff, coordinating community safety activities and ensuring the effective delivery of local laws, animal management and compliance functions across the municipality.

This opportunity offers:

  • Band 6 salary commencing at approximately $96,000 per annum plus superannuation

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

You are an experienced regulatory professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for the community. You enjoy supporting and mentoring staff, coordinating service delivery and applying legislation in a fair, practical and consistent manner.

You will have extensive experience in local laws and compliance, together with demonstrated knowledge of animal management, traffic management and regulatory enforcement. You will be confident managing complex situations, exercising sound judgement and building productive relationships with community members and stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of local laws and their application.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, leading or coordinating teams and operational activities.
  • The ability to balance compliance outcomes with a customer focused approach
